This Week's Meeting:

Our guest speaker this week is Mr. Andrew Lau who will be speaking to us about "Chinese Tea".

++++++

Courtesy reminder: KGM Program Director Brian "SHUT UP" Hodgson gracefully reminds members to either suspend or maintain their private conversations at a low volume while the President and/or the Guest Speaker is at the podium.

This is not only common courtesy and good manners towards the speaker, but failure to keep quiet usually means that other members are disturbed.

Membership News:

Since August is RI's Membership Month, our young, charming & cute Membership Director Sonya "Hello Kitty" Wu has created a new poster in her ongoing attempts to encourage KGM members to introduce new blood to KGM.

If you have a friend or business colleague who you think would benefit from membership in KGM and who would be a worthwhile addition to our ranks due to their interest in community service, contact Sonya by telephone on 9109 2900.

By the way, KGM members might be interested to know that over the past two weeks, we've received two enquries for membership from the electronic "Membership Enquiry" form on the KGM website. Pretty cool, huh?

District 3450 News & Events:

As all of you know, The Phantom is a huge supporter of District 3450, (except for everything they do or say). Ha!

OK, I admit I'm a curmudgeon and a massive pain in the donkey, but sometimes in a moment of weakness (i.e. every 10 years or so), I do something for KGM which also helps my pals in District 3450, who invariably want to honour me with a statue (so that the pigeons have a new target).

Anyway, on a trial basis, I've created an additional WAP site where you can view details of all club meetings in the District.

So, if you're suddenly free for lunch on Thursday and you want to see where you can do a make-up, all you need to do is grab your cellular phone (or PDA) and use GPRS to visit http://tagtag.com/d3450 and, bingo-bango, you can see who meets where, and the language(s) of their meeting. There's also a link to the above page from the KGM WAP site.

Yes, yes, I know, you're thinking "What a great guy!" but, no, there's no need to thank me. Just send me something to wipe the pigeon ka-ka off my new statue.

Rotary Information:

Health, Hunger & Humanity (3-H) Grants: In 1978, Rotary launched its most comprehensive humanitarian service activity with the Health, Hunger and Humanity Program. The 3-H Program is designed to undertake large-scale service projects beyond the capacity of individual Rotary clubs or groups of clubs.

Since 1978, more than 320 different 3-H projects had been approved and undertaken in 74 different countries, with an appropriation at more than US$85 million. The objective of these projects is to improve health, alleviate hunger, and enhance human, cultural, and social development among peoples of the world. The ultimate goal is to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace.

The first 3-H project was the immunization of six million children in the Philippines against polio. This was the birth of what we now know as the PolioPlus program. As 3-H progressed, new programs were added to help people in developing areas of the world.

Now, in addition to the mass polio immunization of more than two billion children in various countries, 3-H has promoted nutrition programs, vocational education, food production enhancement, polio victim rehabilitation, and other activities that benefit large numbers of people in developing countries. All 3-H projects are supported by the voluntary contributions of Rotarians through The Rotary Foundation

Golden Smile:

My Dear Beloved Wife Susan,

During the past year, I attempted  to make love to you 365 times, but I only succeeded 36 times which is, on average, only once every ten days. The following is a list of reasons why I did not succeed more often :

01) Wrong time of the month - 14 times (!!)
02) It's too late - 15 times
03) I'm too tired - 12 times
04) It's too early - 12 times
05) It's too hot - 18 times
06) We'll wake the kids - 34 times
07) The neighbours / family members will hear - 6 times
08) Headache and/or backache - 28 times
09) Your mother will hear us - 9 times
10) Not in the mood 21 - times
11) Watching the late show - 17 times
12) Too sore - 26 times
13) New hairdo - 6 times
14) You pretended to be asleep - 18 times
15) You had to go to bathroom (and didn't return) - 10 times
16) Sunburn - 10 times

Of the 36 times I did succeed, the result was not always satisfying because:

9 times you just laid there
4 times you reminded me there was a crack in the ceiling
6 times you told me to hurry up and get over with it
7 times I had to wake you to tell you I'd finished.

And once I was afraid I had hurt you because you started thrashing about and breathing heavily.

Your loving husband,
Bob.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

My Sweet Husband Bob,

Thank you for your note, but I think you're a bit confused. Here are the real reasons why you didn't get more than you did:

01) Came home drunk and tried to make love to the cat - 14 times
02) Did not come home at all - 35 times
03) Did not come - 21 times
04) Came too soon - 33 times
05) "Percy" was drooping like a cooked noodle - 19 times
06) Cramp in your legs - 16 times
07) Fell asleep on the sofa - 38 times
08) You had a yeast infection "probably from the toilet seat" - 29 times
09) "Percy" got caught it in your zipper - 5 times
10) You had a cold and your nose kept running - 21 times
11) The coffee was too hot and it burned your tongue - 9 times
12) You had a problem with your bad back - 11 times

The times I just laid still, was because you actually missed me, but you seemed to be enjoying yourself so much with the pillow, I didn't want to disturb you.

I never mentioned the crack in the ceiling - what I said was "Would you like me on my back or kneeling?".

And the time I was thrashing around was because you had broken wind and I was fighting for air!

Your loving wife,
Susan.
